On the Horizon:
a story of place
June 27, 2026
concluding @sunset
Fort Steele Heritage Town
On the Horizon is an outdoor gathering shaped by sound, story, and place. Set beneath open sky, the concert brings together orchestral music, Eagle Bear Spirit drummers, and storyteller Joe Pierre, in a shared celebration of the land that holds us. Drums carry across the air with a steady, grounding pulse, while spoken word threads through the evening and music unfolds in conversation with the landscape itself.
Designed as an experience rather than a traditional concert, the evening invites audiences to listen differently, with the land as both setting and partner. It is a moment of connection, reflection, and gratitude, honouring where we come from and what lies ahead.
Performers:
Eagle Bear Spirit Drummers
Joe Pierre - Ktunaxa storyteller
and
Symphony of the Kootenays orchestra

Helpful Information for Saturday’s Performance
The concert begins at 7:30 pm, but we encourage you to arrive early. Ticket check-in may be a little slower than usual, and we don’t want you to miss the start of the performance while standing in line.
Please remember to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.
The chances of rain seem to be diminishing, but as this is an outdoor performance, we recommend coming prepared just in case. Mosquitoes are also out, so long sleeves and bug spray may help keep the evening more comfortable.
Make an evening of it! Come early, walk around, enjoy the heritage town, and have a meal before the concert. Fort Steele is generously keeping the bakery open until 7:00 pm, with chili, soup, smokie rolls, and baked goods available. Rick’s Iron Kettle patio, located next to the bakery, will open at 6:00 pm with steak sandwiches on special.
There will also be two food trucks on site and open after 5:00 pm: Flippin’ Crepes and Smoke Ring BBQ.
While you’re there, be sure to check out the beautiful Kia vehicle on display from our Season Sponsor, Kia Cranbrook.
We extend our sincere thanks to CAMAL, the employees of Fort Steele Heritage Town, Mardis Forest Products for generously supplying the lumber to build our stage, and Tyee for funding the clamshell tent. Their support, hard work, and generosity have helped make this special outdoor performance possible.
