Thank you all for a thrilling musical experience this past Oct. 5/6! See you at the next concert.....
Beethoven’s career is a landmark in music history, and personal story of innovation and creativity, against difficult circumstances, including going deaf, remain an inspiration. The Symphony gets a head start on celebrating Beethoven’s 250th Birthday with two major pieces in his “Heroic” style. Returning favourite pianist Amy Zanrosso performs the Emperor Concerto, named by Beethoven’s publisher because of its grand nature and virtuosic flourishes. Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony is a landmark of symphonic music, and one of the pinnacles of human artistry. But don’t let that fool you, this is an exciting ride for listening, as the skilled musicians of the Symphony bring the music to life the way it was meant to be — LIVE, and right in front of you. There is a lot more to hear than just those famous first four notes! A journey from stormy darkness, to startlingly joyous triumph; this is an event not to be missed.

"Growing up in the Kootenays played a huge part in who I am today, both as a person and a musician and there is nowhere else in the world where it is more meaningful for me to perform. I’m thrilled to be performing the Emperor Concerto with SOTK in the very place that gave me my start and that has filled and continues to fill my life with joy and unforgettable memories." - Amy Zanrosso
